my engineer char have started too on 5 planets, but look like a pain if you want it effective enough for the cost involved, choosing the right runs, i'm guessing that 0.0 and low sec planets have better yield than what i'm seeing as for the market it will take a few month before prices corrects to reflect the work done, so i'll be saving :)

Yeah, so far my impression of PI is:

1) Extremely low barriers to entry mean everyone can do it, hence the rewards aren't that great.

2) Low cost to start (entire colony for under 8-9m in most cases) also means you don't have a whole ton of risk and you might at least be able to break even after a few weeks.

3) Ability to create NPC components of POS fuel (oxygen, coolant, enriched uranium, mechanical parts, etc) in 0.0 with no need to run logistics to empire is pretty awesome. Small alliances could set up in the backwater of 0.0 and as long as they had an ice belt and some decent planets would never have to make trips back to empire.

4) Nobody is ever going to get rich off PI until the BPOs for POS and POS modules are seeded (if that ever happens). And even then, if those goods are still produced by NPC corps, you essentially have to contend with a price ceiling.

5) If you had a perfect constellation with a series of really good planets and 3-4 alts to run 5 planets each, you could theoretically pull in around 3m per day in passive income, total. You'd also have to micromanage a lot (log in each day and reset your extractors to fish from a new deposit, and probably manually transport your advanced goods to your high-tech processor facility off-world).

Still too early to say anything definitively but my initial reaction to PI is underwhelming. Very cool interface and I like how cheap it is to start up and can be fun to play around with, but if you're looking for the "next big thing" to supplement your Eve income, PI isn't it.

Just wondering if Backboning is what they did on Brokeback Mountain....

Damn, those aren't real T2 components - I mean, yes they are a component used when making T2 items but they aren't Hypersynaptic Fibres or Nanotransistors. I thought you might at least be able to make the "Race Metal" T2 Component - Titanium Carbide, Ferrite Carbide etc.

So far the fairly mundane T2 components you can make (miniature electronics, high-tech transmitters) aren't as profitable as enriched uranium. But yeah, the market is still crazy right now, things may change.

I suppose so.

You never know what this will do to the market.
